Laptop Computer
When the laptop computer was first developed, no one had any idea what would happen in a short amount of time. Initially, this type of computer was nothing more than a niche product used only for special situations. For instance, executives who traveled often for business found this computer highly beneficial, allowing them to work on the road, which meant higher productivity and overall better business. The world of laptop computers has skyrocketed and for good reason.
One of the greatest innovations seen with the laptop computer is wireless capability. Just like with a desktop, the portable option originally needed to be docked in order to work. To use the computer while on the go, cables were plugged into phone jacks. The solution was portable but nothing like what wireless offers. With this new technology, people can go virtually anywhere and within seconds, be connected to the Internet. With the use of a router, the wireless technology picks up signal, creating a powerful and reliable connection.
Another innovative feature of the laptop computer is the webcam. Today, laptops have built in webcams that with the simple click of a button can capture real time video or take snapshot images. This one feature has impacted many lives. A great example is military serving in Iraq who have had to leave family behind. Before the webcam, only hard photographs could be shared but now, family members on both sides of the world can log onto the Internet, open a cam session, and actually talk to one another face-to-face, again in real time. For many military personnel, this one feature has allowed them the first glimpse of a newborn baby at home.
Even the display screen size has greatly improved. When the laptop computer was first launched, the screen was small and images a little grainy. Over the years, display screens have gotten larger and clearer, which means less stress on the eyes. Being able to sit in front of a computer screen without straining also equates to people being able to work longer, thus increasing productivity. For this reason, companies that offer this type of computer to employees will often choose at least a 15-inch display screen.
Finally, today's laptop computer is much lighter, making it easier to carry and this design also uses less energy. Having lower energy consumption is a great way to save money but without sacrificing high performance. These computers operate quieter, they are more convenient, offer better portability, have increased memory, and a long list of other features that make the laptop computer the number one choice for buyers.
